No More Guilt In Your Busy Schedule

I hate feeling stuck in my to-do list while the guilt swirls around that me that I'm not spending enough time with family or exercising. Can you relate? Becoming clear on what you want and need truly skyrockets your efficiency level AND leaves you content at the end of the day. No more survival mode mindset. Here’s how.

Satisfaction. Productivity. Priorities. Three words that will truly transform the way you construct your days and weeks.

I used to rarely feel content at the end of the day. Rather I felt guilty that I wasn’t spending time with my family and never getting to my workout routine. I felt discouraged working through my to-do list and filling up my schedule with work, yet left seeing what didn’t get done.

I felt discouraged, believing that I must need to work harder and sacrifice more. My mindset was to put my head down, put the guilt aside, and “just get through the day.” (lies!)

Our days are meant to be fulfilling, not discouraging. And they can be!

How do priorities make me more productive?

Blah! I hate when I get in a spiral of dissatisfaction in my work. I know it’s not necessary to simply “manage through.”

I know that when I:

  • take time to assess my priorities
  • know what I need to put on my calendar/list
  • clear on what I want/need to accomplish

I can much more easily know:

  • what to do first, second, third
  • what to put to the side
  • what deserves attention now
  • what will make me feel worthwhile at the end of the day

When I have this alignment, whatever I get done (or don’t) I’m left satisfied and content.

When you see busy, successful people who are also happy, they have this in alignment. They put their essential components on the calendar first.

Becoming clear on what you want and need truly skyrockets your efficiency level AND leaves you content at the end of the day. No more survival mode mindset.

When you know your priorities, you:

  • are clear on what to put on your to-do list today
  • eliminate decision fatigue
  • gain confidence in saying yes (and no!)
  • feel content, no more guilt or shame

Priorities: Comparing time, values, and priorities as they impact choices, plans, and actions

The most satisfied and most productive people are clear on personal priorities — what’s important, what’s essential, what matters.

How do I know what my priorities are?

The word priority can feel big and heavy and overwhelming to define. At least it is for me. I like to describe priorities as the essential components in your life. What is it that you regard as most important? Defines you and guides you? Is the foundation of who you are as a woman?

Once you define what those 3-5 essential components are, consider how they show up in your days, in your schedule. When you plan your week (link to planning blog), add those essential components first. This is your template! Then fill in the appointments, meetings, and tasks as they align with your priorities, taking into consideration what’s urgent and has deadlines.

Curious, does this sound challenging, fun, or overwhelming to figure out?

For some of you, this is the “aha moment” you need to realize why you are unaligned and how to get off that hamster wheel. For others, you may need to take more time to reflect and deconstruct your days, tasks, and explore what truly are your priorities.

Take more time to reflect and deconstruct your days, tasks and explore what truly are your priorities.
