Ways to Stop Wasting Time Scrolling on your Phone

Smartphones have added so many efficiencies in day-to-day life...and they also suck away our precious time with addictive, mindless scrolling. I know I'm not the only one! Implement simple ways to minimize distractions and be in control of your phone rather than it being in control of you! And still get more done!

My iphone has increased my productivity with helpful applications and immediate accessibility to information. But, it’s definitely also decreased my productivity by being a rabbit whole of distractions. I love having immediate access to connect with people and I hate that I can’t live without my phone being within arms’ reach.

I know I’m not alone in this. For many women I coach about time management, the phone reliance is a common denominator. Throughout many one-on-one sessions we’ve come up with a variety of tactics to put in place to be sure we control the phone, it doesn’t control us.

Simple Ways to Stop Wasting Time on your Phone

Try one (or more!) of these methods to help you become more intentional (and productive) today.

  • Give your phone a bedtime or hours of operation
  • Make it less enticing, turn screen to black and white
  • Use screen time timers to alert you of usage
  • Assign a home for phone (counter, desk, etc)
  • Turn off non-essential notifications
  • Delete addictive apps that waste time
  • Use airplane mode or focus feature
  • Use computer/ipad for set tasks rather than phone to minimize the rabbit trail of distraction

What tricks or boundaries have you found that help you avoid wasting time on your phone?

NEXT STEPS

Assess what is a valuable use of your time when it comes to your relationship with your phone. There are an incredible amount of benefits to the convenience of the phone, but be sure to do a self-assessment to be aware of the time suck.

Need direction? Time awareness is a valuable tool to have in your belt of productivity.  If you don’t know how to self-assess or need to make a change and don’t know where to start, I’m your gal! I help women figure out how to balance all that life, work, and home throw at you. Contact me for a strategy session and to start saving time! And energy!
