The Proper Place is celebrating five years in the organizing industry this spring, 2019! The professional organizing and coaching services offered by The Proper Place support households across Northwest Iowa to restore order, alleviate clutter, and find peace of mind. Owner, Organizer, and Coach, Michelle Kuiken says, “it has been an honor to serve Siouxland and the surrounding communities for the past five years. I’ve learned so much and am thankful the region has been willing to support my organizing business concept.”

The Proper Place began five years ago as a professional organizing business to help women restore order and de-clutter their busy lives. It has transformed beyond this initial concept into a service that educates regionally, partners with families, coaches around productivity, and organizes with true compassion. “I started the business because I have a passion for helping others, but I am amazed that it has been used to transform the mind set of women and families…that working toward more order in their homes will mean more time for life’s coveted priorities,” states Kuiken. “Less really does feel like more.”

“In reflection of the past five years, I am thankful for the friends and family who encouraged me to take a risk and start my organizing business. Most people wouldn’t characterize me as a risk taker and starting a business is a definite risk and leap of faith. I am honored by the women who trust me to help them take steps forward. I can see that their leap of faith to ask for help to get unstuck, is also a reflection of taking risk. I am thankful our risk-taking paths have crossed over the past five years!”

According to NAPO.net, people spend 8,700 hours looking for things. That’s one whole year! And, most people only use 80% of the items in their house. Let’s celebrate the The Proper Place’s anniversary this season by getting rid of five things you no longer use!

Organizing and Productivity Tips you can start implementing today!

♦ Don’t multi-task. Focus on what’s at hand in order to complete each task fully before moving onto the next task.

♦ Make the choice the first time. Don’t move things around without deciding what to do with them. Make the choice to put it where it belongs the first time you touch it.

♦ End the day with a clean slate. Spend ten minutes each evening picking up, clearing counters, etc. Set yourself up for a successful tomorrow, today!
